Mental Health Services

As a certified nurse midwife, women's health nurse practitioner, and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, I bring a wealth of experience and expertise to support you on your perinatal journey. With over 12 years of working with pregnant and postpartum individuals and extensive training in perinatal mental health, motherhood studies, and matrescence, I understand the unique challenges new mothers/birthing people face and am here to guide you with compassion and care.

The Difference Between Coaching and Clinical Care

Perinatal mental health coaching differs from clinical care in its approach. Coaching provides a supportive and empowering environment to help you navigate the emotional landscape of motherhood, while clinical care is designed to diagnose and treat specific mental health conditions.

  • Coaching: Focuses on setting goals, building coping strategies, and empowering you to reclaim your emotional well-being in the postpartum period.

  • Clinical Care: Involves diagnosis and treatment of mental health conditions by a licensed provider, often involving therapy and/or medication.

If, during our coaching sessions, we determine that clinical care is needed, I will refer you to an appropriate mental health provider. It's also possible to work simultaneously with me as a coach and a clinical mental health provider if needed. Though I am a trained clinical provider, I do not offer clinical services. After years of providing clinical services, I found my coaching services to be more beneficial and effective, as well as allowed me to help more people, than providing clinical services. I also strongly believe the medical model of care is not designed to adequately address the
